Lawyer Bethan has a will to lead

Leading South Wales law firm, Harding Evans, has appointed tax-planning specialist Bethan Owen as the new head of its thriving wills and probate department, where she will have responsibility for a five-strong team.

Bethan, 31 graduated in law from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and undertook her legal practice course at Chester College of La before joining Gwent firm J D Rowlands & Co.

Following a period with  prominent Bristol firm, Davies & Partners, she returned to Wales nearly five years ago to become a partner and Head of Wills & Probate with Gwent solicitors, Everett Tomlin Lloyd and Pratt.

Bethan, who belongs to the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners, said she was looking forward to the challenge of leading this key department within Harding Evans, Wales' sixth largest law firm.

"Inheritance is a complex field, covering key areas such as trusts, but it's an area in which quality legal input can provide solutions for individuals and families."

She said: "There are many ways lawyers can assist people in protecting their assets and ensuring these are transferred intact, at the appropriate time, to those they want to receive them. Inheritance is a complex field, covering key areas such as trusts, but it's an area in which quality legal input can provide solutions for individuals and families."

Harding Evans practice director Joy Phillips said: "Wills and Probate is an important part of our private client work and someone with Bethan's experience and track record will certainly help us strengthen our offering to clients in this field."

Bethan, who comes originally from a farming background in the Ebbw Vale area, now lives at Chepstow and keeps horses in her spare time. She is also a keen skier.

The firm employs 130, including more than 70 fee-earners, and plans to double in size over five years as it serves corporate and private clients in South Wales.
